Mixed reality (MR) refers to technology in which real and virtual world objects are presented together in one environment. This technology holds great potential for accessibility, for example, to facilitate daily tasks by incorporating virtual assistive information into the real environment, and creating MR environments to support training and rehabilitation for people with disabilities. Despite its potential, as a new form of technology with hardware and software limitations, MR itself can pose challenges for people with disabilities, including technical, privacy, ethical, and accessibility challenges. In this workshop, attendees will discuss opportunities and challenges for MR applications for people with disabilities, as well as accessibility guidelines for MR technology in general.

This workshop is part of the IEEE ISMAR 2019 conference, a leading international academic conference in the fields of Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality. The workshop will be held on October 14th, 2019, at Friendship Hotel in Beijing (China).
